The great Romanian tennis player Ion Tiriac has been awarded with the International Award by the Lawn Tennis Writers’ Association (LTWA) during this year’s Grand Slam Wimbledon Tournament.

The distinction was awarded as a token of appreciation for Tiriac’s exceptional results in the white game, as well as for all the support he has offered to this discipline on a worldwide level.

Tiriac has won the doubles in the French Open tournament and has got into the finals of the Davis Cup countless times, together with Ilie Nastase, another great Romanian tennis player, also known as Nasty, due to his excentric ways.

Tiriac is now added up to the list of other magnificent tennis players awarded with the LTWA International Award, such as Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer or Billie Jean King.
