Picture of the Day: When we fall in love, we hear Puccini in our heads.

„Lovers”, by René Magritte.

Barbara Streisand had a famous line in one of her movies („The Mirror has two faces”), which has become an all-time favourite for depicting the perfect sign that you fell in love: When we fall in love, we hear Puccini in our heads.

However, the genius painter René Magritte, a representative figure of surrealism, seems to have another vision of love. In his painting, suggestively called „Lovers”, Magritte represents a couple with their head wrapped in a fabric, leaving them no choice of seeing or hearing anyone around them, but themselves.

The only thing that matters is the person next to you: the only one you want to hear or see, without having your head covered.
